Collection Exploration

The SSRE publishes the book series “Exploration. Collection de la Société Suisse pour la Recherche en Education” (Peter Lang Publishing Group). The series complies with the Open Access policy of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHS).

In order for a journal or series to be funded by the SAHS, its authors must have the right to archive their articles in a repository of their choice immediately upon publication and without an embargo period (Green Open Access). For monographic series, a maximum embargo period of 12 months may still be applied (see Regulations on the Granting of Contributions to Member Institutions of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences, Art. 5.1.1.1). However, the SAHSrecommends completely waiving embargo periods to accelerate the dissemination of research results. A journal or series’ Open Access policy must be made publicly transparent in an appropriate location (imprint, website, etc.).

The usage rights for texts published in journals and series must be specified in an appropriate location. The SAHS recommends the use of Creative Commons Licenses (CC licenses for short), in particular the CC-BY or CC-BY-SA license; more restrictive licenses should only be used in justified cases. Authors who publish in SAHS-subsidized journals and series should be able to retain the exploitation rights for their publications.

To improve citability, articles and monographs, and possibly also book chapters, should be assigned permanent identifiers. The SAGW recommends the “Digital Object Identifier” (DOI). To uniquely identify authors, the identifiers of the “Open Researcher Contributor Identification Initiative” (ORCID) should be used.

If an article or monograph is based on data relevant to the traceability of the texts, such data must be deposited in a suitable and designated location and made publicly accessible, provided there are no obstacles under data protection or patent law. Journals and series funded by the SAGW shall specify the data deposit in a suitable location (“Data Policy”).
